Reina Washio, presently known by her stage name Rei, is a singer, songwriter and dancer. She was a member of the popular J-pop girl groups Flower and E-girls.
Singing had been her passion ever since her childhood, but she was shy of doing so in public. Her dream of becoming a singer rekindled when she attended the famous J-pop group EXILE's dome tour concert with her mother. They inspired her so much that she began to attend EXPG Studio — a school for learning singing and dancing that belongs to the said group's talent agency LDH. In order to be able to pay the fees there, she worked a part-time job, and eventually dropped out after her first year of high school a year later to focus solely on her goal. She accomplished it by becoming one of the winners amongst over 30,000 participants in a nationwide competition held by LDH to find new members for their upcoming girl group Flower. That concurrently won her a position in the supergroup E-girls, which Flower was a part of.
She debuted in 2011 and realized her dream of becoming an artist. During the 9 years she spent as a vocalist of the two groups, she simultaneously collaborated with other artists as well. Being the fan of otaku culture that she is, she also once voice acted in anime. On October 2, 2020, she made her solo debut with the double singles "Call Me Sick" and "Konna Sekai ni Shita no wa Dare da." Upon the disbandment of Flower and E-girls, she's now carrying out solo activity as Rei.
